Customer Feedback & Cruising Log

“Felonious Mongoose has been used to explore the English and Welsh navigable canals and waterways, making as little use as possible of the diesel engine.

Across 2009 and 2010, we covered 1,805 miles with total diesel engine use of just 231.8 hours. Assuming 3 mph when running on diesel, that equates to 695 miles on diesel and 1,106 electric miles. Diesel has only once been run for half an hour specifically for charging alongside the canal bank—at all other times diesel use was for combined propulsion and charging.

Further calculating from these logs, assuming 2.2 mph under electric power, gives 503 hours of pure electric propulsion.”

— Charley and Dolores Johnson, Vessel Owners

Tidal Navigation Note: The owner highlighted that when navigating tidal stretches of the River Thames, having the full combined mechanical horsepower of the diesel engine immediately available offered invaluable safety and peace of mind.
